    1. It’s a renaissance loggia. The roof and part of the structure have disappeared’ that’s why it seems a roman theatre. The cathedral deacons used it to assist to processions and… Executions.

      1. Good grief! Sometimes I forget about the “Game of Thrones” aspect of the Renaissance. But I just watched an episode from Season 4 where a man was fighting with two knives, and thought, “yes,” this is based on the 16th century!
